Yi-Tan Weekly Tech Call #
220
2009-03-02
(Monday
)TED Africa (2007 in Arusha, Tanzania) and a recent HBS Africa conference have brought a lot of attention to innovations in Africa. We had a Yi-Tan call on our own travels to East Africa recently.
The opportunities to invest in African ventures vary widely by country, depending on government policies, the proximity of violence and the state of the local economy. Google has opened offices in Kenya, Ghana and Senegal.
With Eric Osiakwan, let's discuss opportunities in the Telecom Media and Technology (TMT) space:
- How are companies finding funding today? What is working?
- What countries have the most activity? What elements of TMT are most needed?
- When might these markets grow much larger? What would be the drivers?
As always, an IRC chat will be available during the call at #yitan. (Not familiar with IRC? Just join us here.)
We tweet as @yitan (and use #yitan as our hashtag). Please follow us on Twitter. This page is on the web here.
