H1N1

Yi-Tan Weekly Tech Call #

We've had really interesting calls about Katrina and the Asian Tsunami. The H1N1 "swine flu" virus hasn't caused nearly as much damage, but it has certainly caused a big ruckus.

You can find many useful resources online, from the CDC's site and tweetstream to Wikipedia (of course), some intriguing maps and even a little humor (they've found patient zero).

Together, let's discuss:

  • How alarmed should we be? What is the right tone to hit?
  • What are users of social media doing to help or hinder?
  • What does all this mean for society's resilience?

More useful links:

  • Medcko (formerly FluWikie)

Tweeting has taken a big step forward: we're now @yitan! Please follow us, and let's also continue using #yitan.

As always, an IRC chat will be available during the call at #yitan. (Not familiar with IRC? Just join us here.)

We tweet as @yitan (and use #yitan as our hashtag). Please follow us on Twitter. This page is on the web here.
