Not sure who coined it, but a "markitecture" is a fake computing architecture designed by the marketing department.

Microsoft Office, for example, was created as a bundling strategy to kill off Lotus and WordPerfect, which had competing offers, but couldn''t compete with Microsoft's bundle.

Later, as technology matured and competition dictated, Microsoft added Outlook, Internet Explorer and other features.

If you were to start to design an efficient platform for collaborating and creating, there are many things you could do better than Microsoft's Office suite.
