In 1992, after Apartheid started to crumble in South Africa, many people were dislocated inside the country, trying to find places to settle. One informal settlement near Cape Town, Masiphumelele, now has 25,000 mostly Xhosa-speaking inhabitants.
To care for these citizens, John and Carol Thompson founded Masiphumelele Corporation, a non-profit that provides a variety of services and programs. Andrew Smith is MasiCorp's President and CEO.
With Andrew, let's discuss:
- What brought you to MasiCorp? What does the organization do?
- How is Masiphumelele doing today? South Africa in general?
- What projects and services have really succeeded? Why?
As always, an IRC Chat will be available during the call, here.
